I use this mount daily for my HTC Evo 4G, a very heavy phone, and it works perfectly. I bought the Exomount at the same time, and this beats it on just about every level. It comes off the windshield reasonably easy. I don't know much about any warranty.
It hasn't fallen off since. It sits very prominent from the vent, but it just makes it closer to my fingertips. That's my only real gripe about it and not a deal breaker by any means. Another thing I like about this is that the ball socket joint allows you to use the phone in either portrait or landscape mode which is nice. I found myself having to hold the suction cup up to the car heater to loosen the plastic up so it could suction to the window/mount disc. All in all, great item! This mount is absolutely what I had in mind when I ordered it. I use it in my vent, and it has not damaged it at all. It is interchangeable with another cradle that is a little bit smaller and will grip and hold your phone of G1 size or type. The other items are useful as well but it depends on your own personal preference.
I tried my Garmin Nuvi 750 GPS in the mount as well, and even though that is a fairly large GPS, it fit perfectly; again not blocking the USB port or the on/off switch. Where I live it is still pretty cool in the morning, so I have not tried the vent mount, but it looks as though it should work pretty well. It goes on a clean windshield and stays there. The ball joint that connects the mount with an adapter for the cell phone holder is adjustable in tightness and can be rotated for optimal view.
You just have to make sure when you mount it that it's the way you want it because sometimes the weight of the device can make it tip forward but still stays on the mount. It is an inexpensive device, a little more bulky than necessary on the sides of the mount (and why would you want that if you have a sleek phone"). Mostly does what it is supposed to and is cheap, which is what I was going for being skeptical as to whether it would fit correctly.
Overall, it's very good quality. At this price, I hoped I was getting a deal on a mount for my Samsung Droid Charge, but the left arm completely blocks the USB so you cannot use a car charger with this mount. I know there is a HTC Evo dock designed for the HTC Evo but there are two problems with it, one it only works for the Evo itself and no other phones and two it will not work if your Evo has a case on it. I purchased this one, now I can leave my Otterbox defender case on and it will still fit in the mount, plus if someone else happens to be driving my car they can use the mount for their phone as well.
It fits the Droid perfect, leaves space for power cord and exterior jack so I can place it on the holder and hear music and talk through the speakers. Kid loves it too as we can drive with it swiveled into the widescreen/horizontal position and watch movies with the speakers plugged into the car system. Product arrived when expected and is an awesome deal for the price. As a bonus, using the dashboard mount, now I can use my suction cup mount for my iPod and the vent mount for my phone.
